In a bit of a departure from our usual blogs, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate the work of one of our clients—Denver Indian Health and Family Services (DIHFS)—as well as their partners. On March 20th DIHFS and Mercy Housing Mountain Plains, WellPower, the Denver Housing Authority, Native American Housing Circle, and many others came together to host a blessing ceremony and break ground for the new housing development project at 9th and Navajo in Denver.

901 Navajo Ground Blessing, March 20, 2025

This hugely collaborative development will deliver a unique mix of housing, supportive services, and healthcare—94 permanent supportive homes, 96 affordable family apartments, and an 18,000 sq. ft. health clinic operated by DIHFS—all on one site. DIHFS will continue to offer their community-centered, culturally responsive healthcare tailored to Native American and Alaska Native communities, while also serving the broader neighborhood. This project stands as a testament to what is possible when housing and health are thoughtfully integrated, creating a strong foundation for individuals and families to heal, grow, and thrive. Please visit 9thandnavajostreet.org for all the details.

It has been such a pleasure to work with DIHFS over the past several years and witness many of their accomplishments. It is hard to describe just how moving it was to see DIHFS and all of their key housing and organizational partners, as well as legislators, investors, and community members speak, dance, sing, and celebrate at the ceremony. This project is clearly born of great love and deep respect as well as a desire to truly serve the Native populations that call Denver home.
