Principals
David Kennedy Principal + CEO + Owner
David Kennedy will get it done. He’s the sort of person who is regularly up before dawn, thinks scaling frozen waterfalls is the best form of exercise, and maintains inbox zero. He’s a man with a plan, and he’ll gladly make one for you. With training in marketing and market research and a long history of community service, David has a passion for helping community organizations, particularly with brand, customer, and membership research. In his free time, he is on the board of the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative and plans complex international travel itineraries that can be assembled with airline miles. His small joys include trying that new coffee shop, getting out to ski this weekend, booking a flight to anywhere, and knocking out a few quick emails before doing any of those things.
Beth Mulligan, PhD Principal + Owner
Beth Mulligan loves what we’re doing here. She can’t tell you enough how great it is to get to work on important problems with a bunch of other smart and caring people. A voracious reader, she delights in learning new things, and can’t help but notice how everything is related to everything else – a handy trait for drafting theories of change. With degrees in cognitive psychology and science and technology policy, she enjoys complex projects with a lot of pieces to bring together, like community needs assessments and program evaluations. She thinks there’s nothing better than an afternoon spent in a spreadsheet, a VBA macro, or statistical software. Beth would be happy to meet for a drink to discuss the purpose of life, the state of the world, or the relative merits of Casa Bonita and Meow Wolf.
Matt Bruce Principal + Owner
Matt Bruce is pulling your leg, but you probably didn’t catch that. With a sense of humor drier than the Atacama Desert, Matt is a bottomless well of ideas, facts, and what-ifs. He’s known for his propensity to dig deep, not cut corners, and explore all the options. Yet he also has a canny sense for writing simple, clear survey questions and instructions. With degrees in environmental studies and natural resources, and a history of work for city, county, and state government agencies, Matt thrives on community research and quantitative analysis. Equally vigorous outside of the office, he’s a world traveler and adventurer, a dad to two energetic kids, and an explorer who knows every nook and cranny of Colorado. Just try to find a photo or painting of a landscape in our state that he can’t identify on sight.
Kate Darwent, PhD Principal + Owner
Kate Darwent thinks you should try looking at this from a different angle. Her superpower is keeping things in perspective, identifying the key issue, and reframing the discussion for maximum clarity. With a background in social psychology and quantitative psychology, Kate excels at helping groups make strategic decisions, often with the support of rigorous research and analysis. She loves making graphs, spending time in spreadsheets, and agonizing over her clients’ questions and data as if they were her own. After hours you might find Kate knitting replicas of pop icons, decorating with an enthusiastic combination of birds and skulls, and planning elaborate family activities.
Directors
Jim Pripusich, PhD Director
Jim Pripusich is the guy who puts you at ease in any conversation. A political scientist by training and a strategist at heart, he brings sharp thinking and a big-picture mindset to every research question. He’s especially skilled at unpacking the “why” behind human attitudes and behaviors and strives to make complex topics and methodologies accessible to any audience. Whether he’s designing a multi-method study or cracking a joke in a kickoff meeting, Jim provides his collaborators with the clarity and confidence they need to make tough decisions. He approaches every project with curiosity, optimism, and a healthy dose of humor. Outside of work, you’ll find him catching live music, digging into Denver’s food scene, or reading both science-fiction and science-fact—always curious, always learning.
Paul Collier Director
Paul Collier knows everyone. Possibly our most locally famous team member outside of our founders, Paul can often be found sharing his expertise through conference presentations and trainings, leading professional development groups, and meeting for coffee with collaborators, clients, and other colleagues. With degrees in business management and arts administration, and an entrepreneurial history, he really shines when providing coaching and training to help small and scrappy organizations increase their capacity to work with data. His combination of interpersonal and analytical skills make him an engaging facilitator, and a stellar evaluator. In Paul’s downtime he loves tackling new DIY home projects, and adventuring in Colorado’s outdoors.
Associates
Annie Theodoropoulos, PhD Senior Associate
Annie Theodoropoulos is at the heart of it all. With her anthropologist antennae she seems to always know who to talk to and what connections need to be made to get down to brass tacks and have the most impact in a situation. Her love of qualitative research has led her down many paths, from the research-driven realm of academia to the client-focused field of evaluation. With a passion for human-centered research, Annie strives to uncover the stories in the data that shed light on how we form our perceptions, articulate values, and forge new possibilities in an ever-shifting world. In her free time, Annie is an adjunct professor of Anthropology at the University of New Mexico, an experienced crochet garment maker, an avid gardener and gleaner, and a volunteer with multiple community organizations.

Sam Keating Senior Associate
Sam Keating is our data wizard—equal parts analyst and artist. She specializes in producing high-quality quantitative analysis that helps organizations make smarter, more informed decisions. With a sharp analytical lens and training in anthropology and market research, Sam brings clarity to complex questions, translating raw data into visuals that are as compelling as they are precise. Her interest in printmaking and digital art inform her approach to data visualization and design, allowing her to craft visual stories that resonate and drive action. Sam is also an expert on the logistics side of research. She excels at managing data collectors, vendors, and schedules to ensure projects run smoothly and all deadlines are met. When she’s not wrangling unwieldy spreadsheets, Sam enjoys solving puzzles of all kinds, whether that’s through board games, video games, or jigsaws. She’s also a guitarist and lifelong reader who always has a book in two in her rotation.
Catherine Rockey, PhD Senior Associate
Catherine Rockey is our resident language nerd. With a background in applied linguistics and a knack for digging deep into qualitative and Spanish-language research, she brings a thoughtful, methodical approach to understanding how people communicate—and how data can help create positive change. She’s passionate about foregrounding community voices and translating lived experiences into insights that resonate with clients. A lifelong lover of stories in all forms, Catherine is equally at home analyzing focus group data as she is dissecting the maps and genealogies in a sprawling fantasy novel. When she’s not diving into interview transcripts or collaborating with clients, you can find her curled up reading a book with her cat or trying to digest the rulebook of her latest overly complicated board game.
Jane Klinger, PhD Associate
Jane Klinger is our Leonardo da Vinci, skillfully combining art and science. A social psychologist by training, with over a decade of experience conducting and analyzing quantitative research, Jane values rigorous design and, as a former science writer, excels at communicating research findings in an accessible, engaging way. Her illustration and graphic design skills level up reports and documents, helping to bring strategic plans, theories of change, and research findings to life for our clients. Outside of work, she might be found chasing her toddler, talking with neighbors, illustrating a new scientific finding, or singing a song.
Administrative

Christa Morris Office Coordinator
Christa Morris makes sure we keep the lights on. With a mind that moves a mile a minute, Christa is often doing a dozen things at once. Which is helpful as her role is to coordinate everything happening on the business side of our office, from balancing the books to getting incentives out to research participants to managing our health insurance plans. With degrees in geology and computer science she’s great at analytical tasks and really valuable to hike with. You can find her all over the place outside of work too as she’s running from yoga to pottery class to school pickup to moonlight hikes.
Our Founders
Corona Insights was founded in 1999 by Kevin Raines and joined shortly thereafter by Karla Raines, and the two helmed the firm for its first two decades, transferring ownership to four longtime employees in 2023. Their vision for the firm and their approach to customer service is core to who we are today. Kevin – our Rock of Gibraltar and a model of unfailing optimism, curiosity, and ingenuity – deeply shaped our customer-first ethos and our commitment to quality and integrity above all else. Karla – our force of nature, with her energy, passion, and foresight – instilled a drive in us to continually improve, innovate, and lead the development of best practices in our fields. These days they can be found enjoying their historic home and extensive art collection, hitting the gym, exploring their intellectual and creative pursuits, and popping into social events around town.
